Langfelder To Seek $150K Study On Two-Way Downtown Streets

It could cost millions to convert some downtown Springfield streets from one-way to two-way… and it may cost $150,000 just to figure out if it’s even feasible.

That’s how much Mayor Jim Langfelder wants to spend on a traffic study to see if it’s practical to change the traffic patterns on Washington, Adams, Monroe, 4th and 7th Streets.

Appearing live on WMAY, Langfelder said other successful downtowns use two-way streets… and he thinks it’s worth investing to see if it’s practical to make the move here. He plans to introduce an ordinance to fund the study in the next couple of weeks.
