Three Charged In Pekin In Connection With Tainted Fake Weed

Three people in Pekin have been arrested on charges of distributing synthetic marijuana that has been linked to dozens of cases of severe bleeding, some of them fatal.

36-year-old Lonnie Smith has been charged with drug-induced homicide for selling a batch of the tainted drug, known as K2, to a man who later died of internal bleeding.

Two other Pekin residents are also charged with distributing the dangerous drug. Tazewell County has 43 of the state’s 126 cases of severe bleeding linked to the fake weed.
