A Pennsylvania mother is in a battle with her Homeowners Association over a flag outside of her house – which is a tribute to her son’s military service.
Donna Morey says that she has been flying the special flag for over a year but was recently contacted by her local homeowners association for breaking rules in her Philadelphia neighborhood agreement.
The rules state that only white or off-white window treatments may be visible from outside the home. Morey’s Blue Star Flag display hangs in the window of an upstairs bedroom.
A Blue Star flag is displayed when a family member is serving in the military during a time of war. Donna’s son Doug Morey – who lives with his mother when he is home on leave – has served tours of duty in both Iraq & Afghanistan.
