According to The Washington Post – 27 people around the world were killed by attempting to take a ‘selfie’ in 2015.
Most of the deaths happened in India & has resulted in some areas of the country being designated ‘No Selfie Zones’, mostly because there is dangerous activity around requiring citizens’ full attention, i.e. around trains, busy intersections.
Apparently, this is also a problem in Russia with officials saying a hundred cases of injuries are reported because of ‘selfies’.
Some notable selfie deaths that happened last year include: a Japanese tourist falling down the steps at the Taj Mahal, a man being gored to death during the running of the bulls in Spain and a Russian teen falling 9 stories attempting to collect photos of himself in dangerous places.
One gentleman was lucky to walk away, be it with a headache after trying to snap a ‘selfie’ in front of an oncoming train. (Train engineer gives him a boot to the face!)
