The idea is a simple one – to gather our country around the mothers & fathers, sons & daughters, aunts & uncles, grandmas & grandpas that make up our military family, to remember & to thank those service members who have served & those currently serving to protect our freedom.
In 1999, Congress passed legislation & designated the month of May as National Military Appreciation Month. The month was chosen as it is has the most number of days set aside for celebrating our military achievements.
Loyalty Day – May 1
Military Spouse Appreciation Day – May 6
VE Day – May 8
Armed Forces Day – May 21
Memorial Day – May 30
Please take a moment to thank a veteran this month. Buy them a cup a coffee, anonymously pick up their check at a restaurant, shake their hand as they’re walking into church. It doesn’t have to be a grand production, sometimes the most simple gestures make the loudest statement.
